Pegasus Solutions Signs 37 Former Distinguished Hotels
“DH” GDS Chain Code Now Owned By Pegasus
DALLAS (August 21, 2006) — Pegasus Solutions has finalized contracts with 37 upscale, independent hotels that were previously members of Distinguished Hotels to provide reservation and distribution services. Additionally, Pegasus has acquired the “DH” chain code used on the global distribution systems (GDSs). Liquidation proceedings for Distinguished Hotels Marketing Ltd. began last month. Dallas-based Pegasus Solutions is a global leader in providing technology and services to hotels and travel distributors.
Following the closure of Distinguished Hotels’ offices in April, Pegasus provided uninterrupted service to more than 60 hotels for an interim period, allowing the properties to continue to receive GDS, Internet and voice bookings. Under Pegasus’ and Distinguished Hotels’ former agreement, Pegasus had provided the marketing association with the Pegasus RezView® central reservation system on a private-label basis, the NetBooker® Internet booking engine, and Utell by Pegasus™ voice services. More than 60 percent of Distinguished Hotels member properties that previously received distribution and reservation services via Pegasus, have now signed contracts directly with Pegasus.
“Pegasus did not want to leave Distinguished’s former members without representation and access to vital booking channels,” said Peter Fitzgerald, vice president of international sales for Pegasus. “By stepping in to support Distinguished Hotel’s former members, Pegasus offered these hoteliers strong organization and a wide array of services. We are now actively bringing value to those hotels that have contracted directly with Pegasus for their ongoing distribution and reservation needs.”
Former Distinguished members can opt to remain under the DH chain code by entering into an agreement directly with Pegasus, and will continue to receive bookings via the GDSs, Internet and voice channels, as well as marketing services that were available under their previous agreement with Distinguished Hotels. They will additionally benefit from Pegasus’ preferred supplier relationships with companies including BCD Travel and Carlson Wagonlit Travel, as well as a wide audience for direct marketing activities. Hotels that have chosen to remain on the DH chain code through Pegasus include the Rathbone Hotel in London, and the Coombe Abbey Hotel in Coventry. Service under the DH chain code is only available to hotels through Pegasus.
Distinguished member hotels can also choose to move seamlessly to either the Utell by Pegasus™ or Unirez by Pegasus™ services. Utell by Pegasus provides members with marketing, sales and voice services in addition to connectivity. The Unirez by Pegasus service offers hotels connectivity and a range of fully-integrated tools, while allowing hotels to manage their own distribution and branding.
